[...] Thehim, you can have the next Earling. But I’m taking the current Federal Way Conservative. I’ve been pondering a couple of issues with morality. The seed that sparked it all was when I was asked honestly why homosexual unions of any kind are not good for me. In other words, how can two people’s actions affect me? The most obvious answer is if you get invited to a gay marriage, the wedding present has to be more fabulous than at a straight wedding. Also, it might be tougher to pick up women. I’d like to start this discussion with one assumption: we are all connected. This is something liberals or moral relativists like to talk about, how we are all part of one great whole. I agree with that, and I’ll show you how. Moral relativists are the ones who think we’re all connected and that our actions touch other people? I interact daily with a lot of different people. They affect me, subconsciously and conciously {sic}. My culture, the one I practice every day, is mostly a reflection of what everyone else is doing. For the most part, what my culture is is mostly irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Whether I bow or shake hands, who cares? American culture is largely irrelevant? But people can also influence me for good or bad beyond the neutral cultural issues. Yes, it does affect me, no matter how hard I wish it didn’t. Being around good people makes me want to be better, indeed, makes me a better person. Being around bad people makes me want to do worse, and indeed, even makes me a worse person. This is one of the reason why we have to choose who we associate ourselves with carefully, and avoid those who are a bad influence while embracing those who are a good influence. Damn! You must surround yourself with a lot of bad people considering that you think the state should kill people who disagree with the president. Each of the people I associate with are in turn influenced by others in the same way. You can follow this chain to connect anyone in the United States with me. Thus, we are all connected. My actions affect everyone, even if microscopically; everyone else also affects me. Multiply each little bit of influence by the number of people providing that influence, and it amounts to a powerful force. Oh this is fun! You’re being made fun of by me. I podcast liberally with Goldy. Goldy wrote a musical flop, “Don Juan and the Non Don Juan” with Vicki Lewis. Vicki Lewis was in “Mousehunt” with Maury Chaykin. And Maury Chaykin was in “Where the Truth Lies” with Kevin Bacon. So clearly teh gay shouldn’t get married. Now, understanding the above two facts, imagine two societies. In one societies, for the most part, almost everyone is doing good almost all the time. In the other society, for the most part, almost everyone is doing evil almost all the time. [...]

[...] It’s a holiday weekend, a festive time for all, so before I sign off for the holiday (and to watch football), I’m going to step away from some more serious snark and break down a post from one of the less wingnutty members around here, Karl Swenson of Leaning Straight Up. I’ve checked out Karl’s blog a few times, and I notice that he’s very good at peering into the window of the crazy store, but never actually buying anything inside. Although he comes pretty close with this one: Al Qaeda Sends a Message to Democrats- “Your welcome” Strange bedfellows indeed.
I take it back--THIS is my favorite post of his, bar none, especially so because I was a Democrat working in Federal Way dealing with yard signs (which go down on both sides).

"This is a common Democrat trick, employed extensively in the ‘04 presidential campaign. Other tricks include tire slashing, shooting up campaign headquarters, spreading false and libelous rumors, and calling black people racist names."

One of the tactics I saw used extensively by Democrats in the '04 presidential campaign was, of course, calling black people racist names. It's a really smart political gambit because, you know... it makes them vote Democrat... somehow...

For so long, I figured I was the only person reading the Fed Way Con's blog. I was pretty sad when he stopped posting for awhile a few months back... nothing brightened my days more than a long and insightful post on things like "Why global warming is good," or "Why we should cut down all of the trees." Truly an inspired thinker, that one.

Thehim,

I read his entry two days ago. I still have a headache. Thank you for saving me from commenting on it. I would have had to read it again.

if it can demonstrate that only through peaceful means can terrorists ever have hope of influencing any government

I don't know what kind of peaceful means terrorists use. What I do know is that they freak Jonathan out too.

Also, I wonder what kind of speech-treason (speason?) "Bring 'em on" must have been. Or more specifically, would have been if by some chance, a Democrat had been stupid enough to have said it.
