Violence OK; Peaceful Protest is Intimidation

Posted by Carl Ballard

Robby mentioned this post where FW Con says that we may need to violently overthrow the government soon, or at least arm up to intimidate the administration:

I wrote recently that arming yourself is a good way to respond to President Obama’s and the democrat’s efforts to mortgage our future for their political gain. Leftists interpret this as a threat.

Good.

It is a threat, to anyone or anything who would stand in the way of the Constitution of the United States and the people of this greatest country on the earth.

Fortunately, my memory extends back to October 2007, and I can remember his crazy about why protesting is bad.

Intimidation works by force. “Do what I want, or else.” Else what? “Else I shall destroy you politically, economically, and even physically.” It works by instilling fear into the hearts of the audience. It doesn’t rely on persuasion, not one bit. The only “persuading” that occurs is persuading the audience to take the threats seriously.

One thing all of the false ideologies in this world share in common is that they are incapable of using persuasion. It is foreign to them. They want no part of it. They believe it doesn’t work, can’t work, and never did work. Of course, they avoid the reason why it doesn’t work–for them. It doesn’t work because they are wrong. See, people can only be persuaded (long-term) to the truth. If you want people to believe a lie, you have to really work hard at it and eventually they will figure it all out. So persuasion is a very poor tool for the liar.

On the other hand, the job of the modern liberty-loving capitalist is quite simple. All they have to do is explain what they believe in. And when they do, the vast majority of the people will be persuaded by it. That’s because they are right.

I guess when fewer and fewer people agree with your idology, instead of taking to the streets to protest, you should take up arms.

I think it’s becoming clear that we’ll be able to rename this blog the “Jonathan Gardner hypocrisy train” for at least the next four years.

Many conservatives are very liberal when it comes to logical consistency. They just go with the flow. As long as you feel emotionally charged and self-righteous every step of the way, they are in good spirits.

Oh Lee, make that the next eight years, and now you’re talkin!

Fortunately, few of these gun-totin’ loudmouths will emerge from “Fort Apache, The Couch” to hurt anyone else. They might injure themselves on their stockpiles of unneeded weaponry, but the rest of us will probably be safe.

A government armed with thousands of thermonuclear bombs has even less to fear, of course.
