And the Award for Tone Deaf Legislative Body of the Year Goes to…

I can’t wait. Is it the Belgium Parliament? Is it the Vashon School board? The Port of Seattle? Congress? This is pretty much off the top of my head. Anyway, I’m still going with Belgium.

…the King County Council. Their huge game of “let’s raise taxes” has Danny Westneat flummoxed at the “taxapalooza” - and it’s safe to say Westneat is more sympathetic to tax increases than the average Sound Politics reader.

Oh. It was, because there was a tax revolt in, you know, King County. Only 83% voted to renew our taxes to pay for Medic 1. Only 57% of the county rejected Tim Eyman’s nonsense, and only almost 59% support simple majority, bringing the rest of the state with it.

If you want to make a case that they rejected taxes for transportation, that’s a better argument, but one that Earling forgets to make. Still to get that the tone of the last election was that King County voters were opposed to taxes? You’d have to be pretty tone stupid.
