A. Birch Steen vs. Lou Guzzo
– posted by thehim
It’s time again for another contest. Try to guess which of the following recent quotes are from The Stranger’s Public Editor A. Birch Steen and which are from WhackyNation’s Lou Guzzo.
1. Earlier this week, I made my twice-yearly visit to the haberdashery and then to the tailor to have my cravats adjusted to suit this season’s fashions.
2. Every year on October 11, by presidential proclamation, all good and decent Americans should celebrate General Pulaski Memorial Day, a day to commemorate a Polish soldier of great distinction who died a horrific death at the Siege of Savannah in 1779.
3. I’m encouraged and highly hopeful that at least two ideas I have proposed recently are gaining adherents nationally. One is to raise the age for getting a driver’s license from 16 to 18, and the other is to rescind the order to increase the speed limit to 70 and drop it back down to the much safer 55 limit.
4. Let’s start with a list of so-called “sports,” which are not really sports at all. My list begins with auto racing.
5. The worst of the hateful rhetoric has been aimed at President George W. Bush. I can’t recall so many venomous tirades leveled against any other President.
6. I am hardly sympathetic to those who whine about the triumphant march of bulldozers and jackhammers across this barely second-world city.
